Distribution
Lowland to montane open ground in dry grassland or well-drained alluvial soils. South Island Upper Waimakariri Valley, and in the mountains of Nelson, Canterbury and North Otago.

Description
A very small shrub which can be used as a ground cover plant. It has subterranean stems and wiry branches that barely rise 6cm above the ground with leaves only on young plants. It forms dense clumps up to 30 cm wide, flowers in November and has small (about 6mm across) white flowers with purple streaks.

Cultivation
Plant in an exposed site with full sun in a well-drained but moist gravel soil.
