Serendipitous supply
When the Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust wanted to give a gift of plants, locally sourced from Rarangi Beach, east of Blenheim, they came to Oratia. Not only could we provide an eco-sourced species, it was also a plant which had since disappeared from the region!

This is the Trust's story.

Hibiscus diversifolius
NZ Hibiscus in full bloom in late-morning (late-Feb2013). I'm pretty sure I've managed to snap two of the many NZNative Bees that were enjoying the blooms as well. From other close up photos of them and their behaviour they certainly seemed very beeezy!

Thanks to dayne laird for sharing this photo!
