Growing tips:

Hello We purchased some specimens of Coprosma virescens from your nursery earlier in winter to plant out in our garden. We bought plants labelled as male and female because we wanted the female specimens to fruit. At the time of purchase, we were told that these plants do not flower much. We are delighted to advise that the gender-labelled specimens we bought are all in flower at present - prodigiously in fact - and that we now look forward to the females fruiting this year. If you check your own stocks you will probably find that they too are in flower at present. The males have tiny flowers with greyish-cream anthers protruding that tremble when the stems are tapped, and the females have small, translucent-greyish, forked pairs of stigmas protruding from their branches. One you see them for the first time they become quite obvious to spot again. Good news then for selling gender-labelled pairs to customers like us who want their Coprosma virescens to fruit! Regards Michael Coote and Kent Xie.
