Serendipitous supply
 |
When the Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust wanted to give a gift of plants, locally sourced from Rarangi Beach, east of Blenheim, they came to Oratia. Not only could we provide an eco-sourced species, it was also a plant which had since disappeared from the region!
This is the Trust's story.

Alseuosmia macrophylla Submitted by Steve
found around whangarei area. Is this Alseuosmia?
Reply:
NO, No, No This is a bad weed called Queen of the night. Cestrum nocturnum. Yes it has an equally amazing scent as Alseuosmia but it is a tropical plant that is a pest in New Zealand. Please do not plant it as every flower develops into seeds which are spread by birds. |
