Hi Kay Lovely Dracophyllum photo thanks, but it is probably not the D.latifolium species which only grows in the top half of the North Island. If your photo was taken on the Heaphy Track the 2 likely species are Dracophyllum traversii or D. townsonii. I guess it is the former as it is the largest and most photogenic. Cheers Geoff

Hi Kay The confusion between Dracophyllum species can be reduced by knowing the geographic distribution of the species. Dracophyllum latifollium only occurs in the North Island therefore your photo is probably Dracophyllum traversii or Dracophyllum elegantissimum.
